Kochi:  The IDBI Federal Life Insurance Spice Coast Marathon 2018 would get underway on Sunday, 11th November 2018, and the company has announced the details of the route, along with the different measures and facilities.

Set to witness the participation of more than 4500 enthusiastic runners, the course for the marathon has been certified by the Association of International Marathons and Distance Races (AIMS).

The Full Marathon will be flagged off by Lt. Commander Ashwanth, Naval NCC volunteer-in-charge and Karthik Raman, CMO, IDBI Federal Life Insurance at 4:00 am from Willingdon Island. Soumini Jain, Mayor, Kochi Municipal Corporation, will flag off the Half-Marathon at 5:00 am, while Hibi Eden, MLA, Ernakulam East, will flag off the 8k Fun Run.

Soles of Cochin, the organizers of the IDBI Federal Life Insurance Spice Coast Marathon 2018, has undertaken various initiatives to ensure that runners have an injury-free completion of the race.

As many as 17 doctors from Medical Trust Hospital, 6 ambulances and their staff will be present at the event to take care of the runners. There will be 15 aid stations at intervals of 2 km along the course, where water, energy drinks, biscuits, bananas, peanut candies and salt will be distributed to runners to ensure they stay hydrated and energized.

The involvement of more than 600 volunteers will not only help in assuring the safe movement of each and every runner, but also motivate them towards a successful finish. In order to control the traffic and have a safe marathon, over 150 personnel from the Kerala police will also be present. After the marathon, a hot breakfast will be provided to all the runners to restore and boost their energy.

The 5th edition of the IDBI Federal Life Insurance Spice Coast Marathon will see 350+ runners competing in the Full Marathon, 1700+ runners attempting the Half Marathon and 2500+ runners participating in everyone’s favourite run, the 8 km Fun Run. 7 teams have also signed up for the Half Marathon Corporate Relay. The Full Marathon (42k) will commence at 4 am, Half Marathon (21k) at 5 am, Half Marathon Corporate Relay at 5.40 am and the Fun Run (8k) at 7.30 am.
