The Salute Keralam awards instituted by Asianet News will be given away on December 21 in Kochi
Applauding the models of excellence during the fight against Covid-19 pandemic in Kerala, news television company Asianet News has announced the winners of its ‘Salute Keralam’ awards.
As many as six winners have been announced in different categories. The awards are to be presented to the winners on December 21 at an event to be organised in Kochi.
Asianet News has selected achievers from different categories who have fought for the wellbeing of the people despite various obstacles during the pandemic. Each winner will be presented with a cash prize of Rs 50,000 and a citation.
The winner in the public category is Salamkumar, a resident of Ranni Naranammuzhi Unnathani Laksham Veedu Colony, who spared his vehicle to help Covid-19 patients to reach hospitals and help children in need with online learning materials.
The winner in the category for health workers is Nitin A.F, a clinical psychologist, who had been working at the Thiruvananthapuram General Hospital for more than a year without availing of even a single day’s leave.
Jithu Krishnan from Pooyapalli, Kollam, won the category for small and medium entrepreneurs, as he managed to put in place a low-cost oxygen supply system for the needy.
In the corporate category, Shijitha Ullas, General Manager of Confident Group, won the award for continuing to operate in a situation even when there was acute scarcity of workers without affecting day-to-day operations in the construction sector. G Girija from Karamana, Thiruvananthapuram, and Aby Moses from Peechi, Thrissur received special mention from the jury.
The jury, presided by Rubber Board Chairman K. N. Raghavan, comprised Lida Jacob IAS, entrepreneur Lisa Mayan Mohammed, former KMA president Jibu Paul and author Sreekumari Ramachandran.
